It also kinda broke the immersion to watch enemy tanks bouncing 40 meters into the air like rubber balls for some stupid reason (though it was admittedly entertaining). MW3 was fun, too, but I had so many headaches getting the damn game to run properly without crashing. It's even more fun with the NAIS hack adding a ton of stuff to the game I still have it and the patches on my hard drive.
Mercs2 in particular was the game that got me into the franchise. Personally, I'd say Mercs2, Mercs4, and MW2:Clans are my favorites. Also it’s the easiest game to pick up, install, and play without looking up a setup guide which is nice. I really feel the grief 4 gets sometimes is more due to balance issues than anything and those can be addressed with mektek and Mechstorm mods. MW4 really is the best fit for a joystick and it builds on the cookie cutter missions of MW2 with every possible contract telling a story, they even parody the old MW2 parody missions by having you raid the same supply route 3x only to be baited into a huge trap the third time.
That being said I think the best MW game is MW4 mercs, some people think it’s to arcade like but the ironic thing is that MW 2, 3, and now MWO all play better with a mouse. It’s perfect example of what a game studio can do on a budget, their cutscenes are literally mostly just your in game map with static effects but it feels perfect for the setting, cut off from support with limited intel.
